Ikebana as Spatial Design: The Power of Simplicity and Contrast（いけばなを空間デザインとして捉える：シンプルさと対比の力）

構成としてのデザイン 

Design isn't just about flowers; it’s more like a construction site—thinking about how to put elements together to create a structure that is both pleasing and follows design principles. During our March 14 class, we explored what makes a design "appealing" and focused on the concept of simplicity.

いけばなにおけるデザインとは、単に花を飾ることではありません。それは「構築（Construction）」に近い作業です。要素をいかに組み合わせ、美しく構造化していくかを、デザインの原理に沿って考えていきます 。3月14日のクラスでは、「何が人の心に響くのか」を、シンプルさという視点から掘り下げました 。

Order, Harmony, and Contrast / 秩序と対比 

To achieve harmony, we start with "Order"—repeating a similar action or direction with our materials. However, a design that is too similar can become boring. This is why we add "Contrast"—one deliberate action that breaks the pattern. This single point of difference actually highlights the order you’ve established, making the whole design stand out. 調和（ハーモニー）を生むために、まずは「秩序」から始めます。素材に同じような動きや方向性を持たせ、それを「反復（Repetition）」させます 。しかし、すべてが似すぎていると退屈になってしまいます 。そこで、あえてパターンを崩す「対比（Contrast）」を一つだけ加えます 。この一つの違いが、それまでに築いた秩序をより一層際立たせ、デザイン全体を強調してくれるのです 。
